Deborah Biron, principal of The Speaking Bridge, specializes in transforming peoples’ lives by improving their ability to communicate.
Early on, Deborah’s desire to act took her to Hollywood, where she was mentored by the head of casting at a major studio. Her decision to return to the Bay Area—a smart one, it turns out—sprang from her drive to perform in the warmer, more intimate venues she has always loved.
Over the years, Deborah’s acting career has put her in front of the camera in print ads, commercials, industrial films and as on-air talent for Channel 2. Her voice can be recognized in advertisements for the San Francisco Chronicle, Saab, Hewlett-Packard, and other major companies.
How it all began
An offhand comment from a producer criticizing her “speech impediment” led her to Dr. Joan Kenley, author of Voice Power. (Actually, Deborah’s problem was breathing, which is not uncommon.) Deborah studied Dr. Kenley’s training method and became a certified Voice Power consultant.
Deborah has also studied The Diamond Approach, a personal development program that promotes self-realization and the mind/body connection.
Combining her education, performance, and personal development experience, Deborah has developed a practical, solution-oriented approach that integrates elements of technique, entertainment, and spirituality.
Deborah is a native Californian. She has B.A. degrees in Drama and Speech from San Francisco State University and is a member of SAG and AFTRA. She continues her work as an actor and pursues post-graduate studies in acting, voice, and psychology. Deborah also leads a women’s confidence-building group and teaches two communication skills courses—Speech and Presentation Skills and Using Your Voice as a Sales Tool—in the Humanities Department at UC Berkeley Extension.
